Position Summary:
As a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing our digital presence and community engagement, The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) is seeking a highly motivated and strategic Digital Marketing Director to lead our social media efforts, website content management, and email marketing initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative team and play a key role in building brand awareness and increasing audience engagement.
As the Digital Marketing Director, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing our social media strategy, website content, and email marketing campaigns. This role requires a deep understanding of social media, audience engagement, and data-driven marketing decisions. The ideal candidate is highly creative, analytical, and experienced in managing digital campaigns that drive brand awareness and community interaction. Additionally, this role will require hands-on content creation, including writing, photography, and video production for social media and digital platforms. Adobe Creative Suite experience preferred.
This position will report to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications. The ideal candidate will be a highly responsive and technically agile creative thinker with excellent multitasking and project management skills. They will be able to drive and execute tactics alone or as part of a team.
Representative Duties and Responsibilities:
1. SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT & STRATEGY
- Develop and implement social media strategies to grow brand presence across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Tik Tok, and more.
- Create, schedule, and manage engaging social media content, including posts, stories, videos, and live coverage, ensuring alignment with brand messaging and goals.
- Capture and edit high-quality photos and videos to enhance social media content and engagement.
- Monitor and engage with the online community by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and strategic manner.
- Track and analyze key performance metrics (KPIs) for social media campaigns, adjusting strategies to optimize engagement and reach.
- Stay updated on emerging social media trends, platform changes, and best practices to keep our digital marketing efforts ahead of the curve.
- Coordinate with social media influencers as needed to support ongoing initiatives and campaigns.
2. WEBSITE CONTENT & MANAGEMENT
- Collaborate with the marketing team to update and manage website content, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and alignment with brand messaging.
- Work with SEO best practices to optimize website visibility and user engagement.
- Utilize CMS tools to maintain and improve website functionality and user experience.
3. EMAIL MARKETING & CAMPAIGNS
- Develop and execute email marketing campaigns (newsletters, promotions, event announcements) to effectively reach target audiences.
- Develop compelling email content that enhances open and click-through rates.
- Utilize segmentation and A/B testing to refine email strategies and improve campaign effectiveness.
- Monitor email performance analytics and adjust strategies accordingly.
4. CONTENT CREATION
- Produce high-quality written, visual, and multimedia content for social media, email campaigns, and website updates.
- Capture photos and videos at events and other key moments to enhance digital storytelling.
- Edit and optimize multimedia content for maximum engagement across platforms.
5. PERFORMANCE TRACKING & REPORTING
- Utilize social media and digital marketing analytics tools to track performance metrics and generate reports.
- Analyze data to measure campaign effectiveness and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
6. COLLABORATION & PROJECT COORDINATION
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, events, district development, and outreach departments, to align digital strategies with organizational goals.
- Manage digital marketing projects from ideation to execution, ensuring timely delivery and optimal resource utilization.
- Collaborate with social media influencers and brand ambassadors to amplify messaging and engagement.

- A passion for social media and digital marketing, and an ability to stay ahead of shifting trends, new technologies and tools, and the latest best practices
- A desire to work in Downtown Pittsburgh and amplify stories that promote the neighborhood as a welcoming place to live, work, and visit. Knowledge of and familiarity with Pittsburgh arts, culture, sports, politics is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in social media management, digital marketing, or content strategy.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices for engagement and growth.
- Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp) and CRM tools.
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) experience preferred.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and website management tools.
- Photography and video experience for digital content creation preferred.
- Analytical skills and experience using social media and website analytics platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong project management skills with the flexibility to adapt to urgent priorities.
Compensation
Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 commensurate with experience.
Benefits: Health insurance (95%), Flexible Spending Accounts, 401k, life insurance, short and long-term disability. Starting at 16 PTO/Vacation days and 13 paid holidays per year.
