Health and Wellness Reporter
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Western Pennsylvania’s largest newspaper, is looking for an ambitious and innovative journalist to cover one of America’s most dynamic health communities. With the recent global COVID-19 pandemic underscoring the essential role of health information, we are seeking an inquisitive reporter to write evidence-based stories on topics including fitness and nutrition, mental health, sleep and stress management. The job will include some health news reporting as well as writing service pieces for our health section, which aims to help readers take steps to live better lives. We want stories that will not only inform and support readers but surprise and delight them as well.
Candidates should:
Be able to write timely, well-reported and thought-provoking stories
Be able to find fresh angles on health topics, drawing from what’s happening in the wider world, including popular culture and social media
Be able to generate ideas for service pieces that are relevant and engaging
Be eager to be part of a transforming newsroom working to provide deep coverage of a diverse and changing community.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism
2 to 5 years of experience, preferably on digital platforms
Knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X and Snapchat
Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills
Display exceptional work ethic, time management and organizational skills
