Essential Functions
The essential functions of this position may include but are not limited to:
- Assists with the administration of lesson plans and participates in IEP development.
- Conducts small group instruction and provides classroom support.
- Maintains a positive learning environment.
- Collects student progress monitoring data.
- Completes appropriate billing activities for Medical Assistance 1:1 services.
- Engages in daily home/ school communication.
- Utilizes computer or iPad as a student teaching tool and for program communication.
- Assists with health needs including: toilet training, diapering, dressing, washing hands/face, meal time assistance, etc.
- Participates in in-service trainings and workshops as necessary. 20 hours of PD related to Early Intervention, Early Childhood or Special Education is required yearly.
- Works with a variety of classroom therapists, including Systems 1-2-3 behavior management consultants.
- Provides positive behavior supports to individual children as well as entire classroom.
- Possesses knowledge of and uses adaptive equipment and augmentative communication devices.
- Carries/secures car seats (or seating vests) and children into vehicles.
- Lifts children onto changing table to change diapers.
- Engages in prolonged sitting to give hand over hand physical assistance to children.
- Cleans and disinfects toys and equipment.
- Communicated positively with others
- Other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the department's or school's goals and objectives and the District's mission and Superintendent's Priority Goals.
