What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Business Development & Growth Strategy position at Pizza Hut?
We are looking for a Director of Business Development and Growth Strategy who will play a key part in advancing Pizza Hut’s new restaurant development strategy, through close collaboration with the Chief Development Officer, the executive Leadership Team and the development team. The role will be responsible for delivering growth strategies to step change Pizza Hut’s unit expansion goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Employ New Growth Strategies (65%)
- Partnering to identify new avenues of growth for over 6,000 restaurants across the US
- Identify and Develop Programs to bolster the Organic Growth of the Pizza Hut business
- Seek to build a new pipeline of unique development opportunities. These can include In-Organic Growth, Mergers and Acquisitions, Non-Traditional opportunities
- Provide support to bolster the existing Development Pipeline
- Oversee the recruitment of new Growth Minded and Growth Hungry franchisee prospects
- Provide leadership and partnership to support managing distressed portfolios
- Provide hands-on support and counsel to the development team on key initiatives.
Development Team Support (35%)
- Be a key thought partner to the CDO, executive Leadership Team and Business Development leaders across YUM! on the overall Development Strategy
- Provide clear messaging and communications to Yum! and franchisees on Pizza Hut’s Development strategy
Required Qualifications:
- You will be required to attend the Plano, TX office 3 days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, when not traveling.
- Travel: 20-30% Travel Required
- Extensive Experience: Over 10 years in Restaurant or Retail Business Development, Franchising, and/or Strategy required.
- Financial Expertise: Strong financial acumen with the ability to build financial models.
- Project Management: Proven project management skills.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation abilities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Comfortable with cross-functional responsibilities, and collaboration at all levels of the organization.
- Independent Thinking: Demonstrated ability to develop an independent point of view in direct areas of responsibility.
- Relationship Management: Track record of being able to foster strong relationships with colleagues, partners and clients (internal and external) across various styles and cultures.
- Effective Communication: Strong communication skills, with demonstrated capability to influence the internal and external partners.
- Commercial Savvy: Commercially savvy with a keen business sense.
- Coaching and Development: Ability to coach and develop both direct reports and peers.

Preferred Qualifications:
- YUM! Development Experience: Previous development experience within YUM! is a plus.
Salary Range: $160,000 - $188,000 annually bonus eligibility and stock-based compensation. This is the expected salary range for this position. Ultimately, in determining pay, we'll consider the successful candidate’s location, experience, and other job-related factors.
