POSITION SUMMARY
The Fitness Instructor will be responsible for running the Planet Fitness group fitness program. This includes assisting new members in the achievement of their fitness goals by designing a simple workout program and instructing them on the proper use of equipment. The Fitness Instructor trains members to attain good health by means of exercises and diet plans. The Fitness Instructor advises on the fitness regime of the member individually and in group or class settings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Reports to shifts as scheduled to ensure all classes start as set.
- Reviews all classes on the computer for accuracy.
- Conducts and runs the Planet Fitness group fitness program, including creating and following the schedule.
- Consults with members regarding their fitness goals and instructs them on how to properly and safely use the equipment.
- Creates bi-weekly updates consisting of a variety of exercises.
- Meets class requirements based on club size and member traffic.
- Uses down time to engage with members and uses creativity to build classes and develop new relationships.
- Responds to member questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner and elevates questions or concerns to the Assistant Manager or General Manager as needed.
- Assesses the fitness needs of members and prepares customized fitness plans.
- Formulates a fitness plan that will provide maximum benefits.
- Motivates and inspires members to push their bodies harder to attain greater levels of fitness.
- Recommends appropriate nutritional plans.
- Forms a friendly camaraderie with members so that the members feel comfortable sharing their fitness challenges more openly.
- Monitors and documents the progress of the member and makes modifications in the fitness plan according to the result.
- Discusses results with the member and makes recommendations about what can be done better.
- Reads and accumulates information regarding fitness and implements new technology in fitness regime.
- Provides first aid in times of injury.
Qualifications
PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have current CPR and AED certification. Otherwise, acquisition of a certification will be required prior to completion Introductory Period.
- Nationally Certified Training Certificate required.
- Basic knowledge in the use of computer technology.
- A passion and enthusiasm for fitness and health with an upbeat attitude.
- Ability to interact effectively, positively and consistently with members, guests, visitors and coworkers.
- Focus on consistently exceeding member expectations.
- Demonstrated diplomacy in all interactions while using appropriate behavior and language.
- Strong listener with the ability to empathize and problem solve.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to function in high-pressure and fast-paced situations.
- Correctable vision and hearing.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to work with fitness equipment.
- Ability to communicate verbally in a clear understandable speaking voice both in person and on the telephone.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs or more.
- May be exposed to cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to adhere to all safety procedures.
- Consistently maintains excellent punctuality and reliable attendance.
- Ability to adhere to SoCal Fitness Partners uniform policy.

Salary : $16 - $18
