As an Electrical Controls Project Engineer, you'll be integral in ensuring the seamless and reliable operation of electrical systems. Your expertise will be key in installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
Key Responsibilities:
On-Site Installation and Maintenance:
- Lead the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical switchgear controls and backup power systems at client sites.
- Perform routine system inspections to maintain peak performance and reliability
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
- Identify and resolve issues within electrical switchgear and control systems.
- Interpret and analyze electrical schematics and diagrams.
- Mark up and redline technical drawings as needed to ensure accuracy.
- Work with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and ladder logic to troubleshoot and optimize performance.
Technical Expertise:
- Apply knowledge of networks such as Modbus, Ethernet, and fiber optics.
- Utilize SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems effectively.
- Collaborate with clients to assess their technical requirements and provide expert solutions.
- Provide support and training to clients and junior engineers as necessary.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that all work adheres to safety regulations and industry standards.
- Generate detailed reports and documentation for each service performed.
Continuous Learning:
- Keep up with the latest industry advancements, technologies, and best practices to maintain expertise.
Travel:
- Be available to travel to client locations as needed, including weekends and holidays (up to 60% travel).
Additional Duties:
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support the business’s overall objectives.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on field service experience, particularly with switchgear controls and backup systems.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical switchgear, control systems, and backup power technologies.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical systems.
- Strong skills in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and working with PLCs and ladder logic.
- Familiarity with Modbus, Ethernet, and fiber optic networks, as well as SCADA and HMI systems.
- Understanding of industry standards and safety protocols.
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 60% of the time, including weekends and holidays).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent (not required).
- Experience with specific brands such as Siemens, ABB, Eaton, and Schneider.
- Additional certifications in electrical safety or related fields are a plus.
