What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Technician position at Planet Forward?
Currently looking to add an entry-level Laboratory Technician to our Chemical Manufacturing Client. They produce specialty chemicals for various industries: pharmaceutical, food & bev, agricultural, and more. The person they are targeting must be open to rotating schedules, which are posted for a full 6 months at a time and given in advance. The ideal candidate is someone who recently graduated with an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a Science related field and is looking to grow a career within Chemicals. These roles are long-term, contract to hire, once converted to a full time employee you will see substantial growth internally.
Shift: Monday - Friday or Wednesday - Sunday (0700-1500, 1500-2300, and 2300-0700)
Job Description:
Assists engineers and scientists with a variety of laboratory tasks. Performs chemical analyses and scientific tests using both routine and techniques in compliance with all safety standards. Collects, analyzes and processes laboratory samples. Records results of tests, organizes data, performs basic computations, and prepares reports and analyses using standard procedures and guidelines. Active participation in required local safety program, along with the ability to work safely and maintain a clean and orderly lab environment. Operates, maintains and makes basic repairs laboratory test equipment, apparatus, systems and supplies. Provides technical product support to customers. Provides a basic level of product knowledge, assists in trouble shooting, basic start up, and proper application. Responsible and held accountable for compliance with all Critical Life Safety Policies, Environmental, Health and Safety training, policies and procedures.
Required Skills:
- The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills with knowledge in basic chemistry, math, and computers.
- Holds safety as a top priority while working in a team setting.
- Familiarity with computer programs such as MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Self direction and the ability to work according to priorities are necessary.
- Strong written and oral communications skills along with computer experience are important.
- Has basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process.
- Displays strong Grace leadership behaviors.
Required Experience:
- Will typically have at least 2-4 years related technical experience if High school education •
- Will typically have at least 0-2 years related technical experience if BS in related field Preferred Qualifications:
- High school education or equivalent with two years of college level course work in related field
