Technical Writer (Design Guidelines)
Location: Remote; local to Culver City, CA
Duration: 12 months
Pay: Up to $70/hr, DOE
Planet Interactive is looking for a Technical Writer (Design Guidelines) to join our well-known Fortune 500 client on a 12-month contract. This role will be 40 hours per week and is fully remote but must be local to Culver City, CA.
The Content Design Production team is seeking a Technical Writer (Design Guidelines) with a passion for user-focused product experiences to create both internal and end-user facing design guidelines and supporting content across multiple services, with primary focus on streaming
services.
The ideal Technical Writer will understand the importance of accessible and inclusive language and can write clear and engaging content for a variety of formats. This person will have strong opinions about style, grammar, tone, and voice and can quickly spot errors and inconsistencies; and they can handle multiple projects simultaneously and enjoy working with team members in different roles to iterate on a piece to the point of perfection. A diplomatic approach, strong communication skills and the ability to stay highly organized is essential.

Responsibilities
- Work with design leads, program managers and other creatives to collaboratively develop and maintain a common language for design guidelines and creator resources across services.
- Edit and write design documentation and instructions
- find new ways to improve how the team will sometimes convey technical information to readers of varying skills and background.
- Interest in new technologies in web, mobile, and other devices is required.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Experience creating end-user instructional materials for readers of varying skill, from beginners and professionals
- Experience creating and implementing style guides
- Experience with instructional design, creator tools, teaching, training, tutorial development, or similar
- Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and deliver quality work on time
- A deep understanding of the tech brands, services and history
