Network Security Engineer

Back Story:

The primary focus of this role is on AWS, particularly network security, with a strong emphasis on both cloud network management and Palo Alto security solutions. The team is currently engaged in a proof of concept (POC) for another vendor’s services, dedicating roughly 50% of their time to this project. As a result, they have encountered a significant backlog of work that requires immediate attention. As a relatively new team, they are handling a wide range of responsibilities and are in need of additional support to stay on track and manage their growing workload.

The team is split between the cloud team and the on-prem team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Focus on AWS networking and Palo Alto security, including cloud network management and network security.
• Support the transition from manual infrastructure management to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Platform as a Service (PaaS).
• Emphasize automation in workflows and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, Networking, InfoSec, and Development.
• Assist with managing the backlog of ongoing work.
• Contribute to decisions related to network security and automation initiatives.

Requirements:

• 6-7 years of overall experience.
• 3 years of experience working with Palo Alto security solutions, including expertise in networking, load balancing, firewalls, routing, and switching.
• 2-3 years of hands-on experience with AWS.
• 1-2 years of hands-on experience with Terraform coding.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams (InfoSec, DevOps, etc.).
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage shifting priorities effectively.

Preferred:

• Background in Big Data, Machine Learning, and AI.
