The Security Manager at Planned Parenthood of Maryland will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our facilities, staff, patients, and assets. This includes not only protecting our physical environments, but also fostering a sense of safety and well-being for everyone who interacts with our organization. The Security Manager will be responsible for collaborating on the development and implementation of comprehensive security strategies and policies, coordinating security operations across all locations, and managing security personnel and vendors. This role requires a strong leader with a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep commitment to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all.
\n- Regularly visit all PPM locations to assess security preparedness, spot vulnerabilities, and collaborate with center managers to address security needs.
- Maintain relationships with local law enforcement at each center location.
- Supervise security personnel, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Stand in for absent guards and augment existing security personnel when needed.
- Coordinate security operations for PPM hosted events.
- Accompaniment of PPM staff to high profile external events
- Threat identification, mitigation planning and communication.
- Provide real-time incident response, including on-site assessment and guidance.
- Coordinate responses to emergencies and alarms, and compile incident reports.
- Coordinate external threat scanning at local and national levels in conjunction with the national office.
- Monitor and maintain surveillance equipment and access control systems, ensuring timely repairs and updates.
- Prepare the organization and staff for external inspections and audits.
- Develop and implement comprehensive security strategies and policies.
- Develop (or refresh), schedule and conduct regular security drills and training sessions for all staff.
- Implement the security operations budget, monitoring expenses, and documenting processes.
- Ensure strict adherence to all rules and regulations relevant to the organization.
- Create reports for management on security status and incident tracking.
- As needed, work with legal partners and attend court in representation of PPM.
- Maintains utmost confidentiality and discretion.
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related area from a four-year college or university preferred.
- Work experience in related field can satisfy degree requirements.
- Law enforcement experience preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of four years' experience in a security management or supervisory role.
- State-prescribed security training, licensing, and registration required.
- In-depth knowledge of security procedures, surveillance equipment, and industry regulations.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to respond to security alerts outside of business hours.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant computer applications.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation to travel between locations as needed.
- Must be on-site 100% of the time with a minimum of 30% travel.
- Must be able to work occasionally outside core business hours to accommodate executive presence at events.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
