Customer Service Representative

PLANT WORLD, INC., is New Mexico’s largest wholesale/retail nursery, located in Albuquerque's north valley on 22 acres. Most qualified candidates will have experience in one of the following: nursery plants, plant nursery, greenhouse, garden center, inside sales, inside sales representative

Core Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, hands-on professional with a background in Horticulture or have a sincere interest in a career in Horticulture. Applicants must have experience in retail and/or wholesale sales/cashiering with excellent customer service skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation

Starting Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour (based on horticulture knowledge, ability to identify plants and trees by common or botanical name and other relevant sales, and cashier background)

Schedule:

• 8-hour shift (between 7:00 am to 6:00 pm)
• 5-day work week
• Monday- Sunday, with weekend availability March through October

Job Duties

• Assist customers in person at the sales counter with orders, estimates, sales, services and general info.
• Answer phone calls directed to the sales team
• Respond to and process on-line order/estimate, email and text inquiries for orders & quotes
• Maintain customer relationship and communication
• Maintain awareness of all current promotions and advertisements.
• Greet customers as they enter the store.
• Participates in the Store Housekeeping Standards.
• Orderly appearance of register area, impulse area, restock supplies and merchandise as necessary
• Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by store management.
• Tactfully and pleasantly addresses customer issues, get assistance from management if unable to say yes to the customer issue or request. Offer solutions or get management assistance if uncertain on options, never tell the customers “No”.

Skills

• Plant knowledge and identification in horticulture
• Proficient with computer skills & technology
• Excellent customer service skills, friendly and personable demeanor with gentle tone and smile.
• Ability to work in a focused manner, with attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a hectic, fast-paced environment.
• Typing and spelling skills and ability to perform under high volume sales periods quickly and accurately.
• Good memory skills, recognize and identify repeat customers by face and name. Learn and retain plant names, and products.
• Professional demeanor with coworkers and customers
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills, written & verbal
• Ability to perform duties independently. Must be able to use initiative and good judgment.
• Must be trustworthy and possess a high degree of integrity.
• Ability to bend, stoop and lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis. Physical stamina to stand 8 hours per day, withstand constant activity in a very energetic environment.

Preferred Experience

• Previous retail or wholesale plant nursery, garden center, landscaping, or related fields.
• Customer service, sales, cashiering
