Facility Security Officer
Key Role:
Perform a wide range of functions to ensure the protection of company and government sensitive and classified information. Apply advanced consulting skills and extensive technical expertise, full industry knowledge. Analyze innovative solutions to complex problems. Work without considerable direction. Mentor and supervise team members. Coordinate and monitor aspects of the DoD or other security programs and other security activities, ensuring compliance with government and company security policies and procedures. Conduct highly sensitive security briefings. Coordinate all security education programs. Act as primary liaison with upper management and outside agencies.
Basic Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience managing security requirements for sensitive security programs, including DoD
· Experience managing physical security systems and procedures
· Expertise in cybersecurity best practices and incident response
- Expertise in cybersecurity best practices and incident response
- Knowledge of NISPOM, ICD, and DoD security requirements
- Top Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree, or 4 years of experience managing security requirements for sensitive security programs in lieu of a degree
- Facility Security Officer (FSO) Program training
Key responsibilities of a defense contractor security chief include:
- Cybersecurity:
· Coordinate and monitor all facility visits to ensure no unauthorized individual has access to classified information (often without the proper equipment)
· Deliver security and procedural training to all cleared personnel (while trying to grasp what needs to be taught)
· Securely manage assets, files, inventory, and facility areas that could contain sensitive data (often using sticky notes or spreadsheets)
· Handle all tasks relating to cleared personnel to help staff obtain, maintain, and debrief from a clearance (often without the right tools to track progress)
· Generate audit reports to maintain compliance (but have to track down the information just before submission)
- Compliance Management:
- Implementing and maintaining robust security policies and procedures aligned with NISPOM guidelines.
- Conducting regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance.
- Managing the process of obtaining, maintaining, and revoking security clearances for employees.
- Reporting security incidents and breaches to relevant government agencies.
- Physical Security:
- Overseeing access control systems, visitor management, and security guard operations at facilities.
- Implementing security measures for classified information storage and handling.
- Managing security protocols for sensitive areas within facilities.
- Cybersecurity:
- Work with CISO to develop and implement cybersecurity strategies to protect sensitive data and IT systems.
- Monitoring for cyber threats and coordinating incident response plans.
- Ensuring proper data encryption and access controls for classified information.
- Personnel Security:
- Conducting background investigations and security clearance reviews for new hires and existing employees.
- Implementing employee security awareness training programs.
- Managing insider threat mitigation strategies
- Risk Management:
- Identifying potential security risks and vulnerabilities across the organization.
- Prioritizing security risks and developing mitigation plans.
- Communicating security risks and mitigation strategies to senior leadership
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
- Working closely with other departments within the company to integrate security considerations into operations.
- Maintaining communication with government security agencies regarding compliance and reporting requirements.
- Collaborating with IT teams to address cybersecurity issues.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Office software applications
- Ability to be detail-oriented
- Ability to be flexible to move from one task to another and be available for a variety of tasks as the need arises
Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required along with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
