Summary

  • A subdiscipline of mechanical engineering perform duties in planning and designing tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of such equipment. Their job is to design and maintain robots, and to create new applications for them and continually find new ways to expand their potential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and above, or equivalent education and experience combination.
  • 2 year working experience in production management and robotic / mechanical engineering, experience in auto industry is preferred;
  • Core Competencies

  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering, production management, TS16949 quality system, performance and structure of plastic products and corporate operation and management process;
  • Communication and coordination ability; innovation capability; operating skills of office devices and common office and draw software;
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office Apps (excel, word, power point)
  • Continuous improvement mentality with lean manufacturing knowledge
  • Problem solving techniques and ability
  • Be a resource to supervisors and managers when implementing IE improvements, processes and procedures
  • Robotics engineers must have an excellent understanding of automated systems, manufacturing, design, production processes, raw materials, and quality control. Their work entails resource allocation and strategic planning, so they must have good administrative and business skills.
  • They must have a good attention to detail and be able to solve complex problems, as their work includes a lot of troubleshooting. To be successful in the field, robotics engineers should be able to anticipate all the future uses of the designs they create. Commercial awareness is important, and engineers should be able to anticipate the future needs of end users as well, as well as to pinpoint the industries which could potentially benefit from the use of robots.
  • Robotics engineers frequently work in teams to develop new designs and concepts, so they should have good people skills and be able to communicate their ideas clearly to their employers, clients, and fellow employees. Engineers must also be able to analyze complex sets of data and to make decisions based on the results of the research.
  • Problem solving skills are essential in this line of work on a day-to-day basis.

  • Job responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
  • Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products, using drafting tools or computer-assisted design / drafting equipment and software.
  • Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems and needs.
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.
  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, and operation of product designs.
  • Estimate costs and submit bids for engineering, construction, or extraction projects, and prepare contract documents.
  • Perform personnel functions, such as supervision of production workers, technicians, technologists and other engineers, and design of evaluation programs.
  • Solicit new business and provide technical customer service.
  • Establish and coordinate the maintenance and safety procedures, service schedule, and supply of materials required to maintain machines and equipment in the prescribed condition.
  • Study industrial processes to determine where and how application of equipment can be made.
  • Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects.
  • Apply engineering principles and practices to emerging fields, such as robotics, waste management, and biomedical engineering.
  • Design test control apparatus and equipment and develop procedures for testing products.
