What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping/Inventory Control position at Plasticade?
JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for the efficient management of outgoing shipments, ensuring each load is packaged to standards, staged, proper paperwork is completed, inventory count is updated, etc. Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory for the plant. Help maintain the cleanliness of the plant and parking lot.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain an excellent attendance record.
- Load outgoing shipments using a forklift, verifying that packaging ensures their protection during transit.
- Verify and confirm the accuracy of customer orders and ensure they are complete before dispatch.
- Stage the product the day prior to shipment.
- Generate shipping labels, packing slips, and other necessary documentation for shipments to include UPS and FedEx Packaging.
- Review and enter production spreadsheets and ensure accurate and complete information is entered into the ERP system (EPICOR).
- Complete physical cycle counts on all finished goods daily.
- Address any shipping-related inquiries, issues, or complaints promptly and professionally.
- Support production with Band/Strap/Wrap product as needed.
- Re-band and stack product with damaged or broken pallets; front and compress outside inventory.
- Inspect all pallets, ensuring they are in compliance with Uline standards.
- Perform daily forklift inspection.
- Inspect the dock and ramp daily.
- Keep the warehouse, parking lot and road in front of our business clean.
- Complete one safety audit daily, document finding, and follow up.
- Assist plant leadership team with administrative tasks as appropriate.
- During the winter, shovel snow off the sidewalk and put down salt.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures while handling materials and operating equipment; wear required PPE.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2-year college degree preferred.
- Forklift certified.
- Prior experience in Shipping in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft software is required. Epicor a plus.
- Self-starter that is highly motivated and capable of working independently without supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to use organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Fluent in English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Physical stamina to band/strap/wrap.
- Ability to handle heavy packages and perform tasks that involve walking, standing, lifting, and moving materials about 90% of the workday; ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, and/or squatting during inventory and cycle counts.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time using a computer.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to work in a noisy, hot, dirty, non-climate-controlled environment with non-toxic fumes.
Hours: Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Mandatory overtime during monthly cycle counts and as required to get the job done.
