What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Technician position at Plateau?
Applications are being accepted for a Network Technician for the Albuquerque, Los Lunas, and Belen, NM area.
Primary responsibilities include troubleshooting, testing, repairing, maintaining, and installing central office and network communications equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliable services to our customers, as well as locating and repairing business and residential copper and fiber-optic communication cables.
Previous experience with telecommunications networks and equipment and fiber splicing is required. Experience with SONET based, long-haul, and metro transport networks and next-generation DWDM wavelength systems is desirable. An associate’s degree in electronics, telecommunications, or equivalent is preferred. This position requires proficient skills with common computer applications, DC power, telco grounding standards, small hand and power tools, and telecommunications testing equipment. Training and/or certification related to IP networking is recommended. The ability to lift up to 100 pounds and the ability to work with and without close supervision is required. A valid driver’s license and a clear 3-year driving record are required. This position may require performing physically demanding tasks in weather and temperature extremes, as well as extensive daytime and nighttime driving throughout Plateau’s geographic serving area.
