Position purpose: Communicate by answering patients’ concerns, and schedule appointments by delivering excellent patient care via phone. Must be able to document appropriately and communicate with physicians, providers, and medical assistants.
Responsibilities/Tasks:
- Effective/strong telephone skills.
- Knowledge of multiple insurance providers.
- Knowledge of E-Rx medical prescriptions to patient’s pharmacy.
- Help with patient’s prior authorizations so patient can receive medications timely.
- Ability to communicate with providers whether through emails or phone calls.
- Competent with the terminology needed to perform the job.
- Able to schedule appointments with multiple providers using Next Gen Practice Management.
- Good understanding of using EMA Electronic Medical Records.
- Able to triage phone calls. Can help answer the patient’s questions.
- Help direct the phone call to the appropriate team when needed.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize each day.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member with providers and other staff.
- Self-starter.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Create a culture of patient excellence and delivering customer service.
- To go above and beyond for patient satisfaction.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Certified Medical Assistant is preferred but not required.
- Medical Assistant training is required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years experience working in a doctor’s office.
- Prior dermatology experience is preferred.
- Quality written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior Phone Triage experience is preferred.
- Professional in appearance and mannerisms.
- Understand dermatology terminology.
- Able to demonstrate compassion and caring when dealing with others, patients, and coworkers.
- Able to prioritize tasks, understand the provider’s instructions, and know when to seek information or advice.
- EMA experience is preferred.

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
Physical Requirements: Must possess manual dexterity to operate office machines including computer and calculator; stooping and bending to handle files and supplies; and mobility to complete errands or deliveries. Includes handling of sharps and chemicals.
