Job Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Project Estimator to join our team at Platinum Industrial, Inc. a leading mechanical industrial company. A Project Estimator will be responsible for calculating the cost estimates for mechanical industrial projects, ensuring accurate and competitive bids. This position requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, construction processes, and cost management, as well as the ability to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to provide cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project specifications, drawings, and other documents to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for mechanical industrial projects.
- Analyze labor, material, and equipment costs to estimate total project expenses, ensuring that all variables are accounted for.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and design teams to understand project requirements and scope.
- Conduct site visits to assess project conditions, identify potential challenges, and obtain information for accurate cost estimation.
- Prepare and submit detailed bid proposals, including project timelines, resource allocation, and cost breakdowns.
- Maintain a database of historical project costs to improve future estimations and track industry trends.
- Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain pricing for materials and services.
- Identify and evaluate project risks and potential cost-saving opportunities during the estimation process.
- Assist in reviewing and negotiating contracts with clients and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
- Monitor project changes and provide updated estimates to ensure that costs remain in line with the original budget.
- Maintain detailed records of estimates, contracts, and communications to ensure transparency and accountability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3 years of experience as a project estimator in the mechanical or industrial construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, industrial processes, and project construction methods.
- Proficient in estimation software and tools (e.g., ProEst, RSMeans, or similar) and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with construction codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of union regulations, collective bargaining agreements, and labor laws at the local, state, and federal levels.
