Job description
ENTRY LEVEL INSPECTOR I (Monday thru Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM)
Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Inspector I inspects incoming raw materials, work in process, finished products, products being processed, and/or parts and assemblies for conformance to company, customer and industry standards. The Inspector checks samples to verify accuracy of assembly, equipment and/or processes.
Skills
- Proper use of basic quality control hand tools such as micrometers, calipers, tweezers, indicators, etc. and familiarity with various quality control measurement equipment
- Ability to read instructions, specifications, diagrams, and drawings
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work alone or in teams
Duties
- Inspect components and parts manufactured to extremely close tolerances
- Compare product with visual sample to ensure completion of assembly per the drawing or specification
- Verify specified dimensions on product or material using inspection equipment
- Inspect plated surfaces of components and parts visually or using chemical, mechanical or electrical tests
- Approve incoming materials by ensuring compliance to drawing specifications and by conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
- Approve in-process production by confirming specifications and by conducting visual and measurement tests; communicate required adjustments to supervisor
- Approve finished products by ensuring compliance to specifications and by conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work
- Document inspection results by completing reports and logs
- Ensure all documentation is complete and accurate and verify Certificates of Compliance
- Read instructions, specifications, diagrams and/or drawings
- Ensure inspection is performed with the proper and calibrated equipment
- Use reference sources for product testing; including written test procedures and industry standards
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED and/or 1 to 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience using measuring devices and other tools used in quality control (preferred)
Other Qualifications
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to read, understand and write English and possess good mathematical ability
- Regularly required to sit for the duration of an 8 hour daily shift
- Vision requirements include: close, distant, color and depth perception, and peripheral
- Ability to spend extensive periods of time using microscope
