Job summary
This position supports facility projects and performs maintenance and repairs of Platte River equipment and facilities. Technicians may work individually or together in a variety of service areas such as general maintenance, facility safety, HVAC, electrical systems, building control and automation, and site management.
Our team is seeking to hire one individual as an entry-level technician to support general maintenance and repair needs or an experienced technician. The complexity of assigned projects or tasks and responsibilities increase at each level with level III technicians typically specializing in a particular trade such as HVAC, electrical systems, building automation and control, or project management. Our ideal candidate is flexible and adaptable and demonstrates a willingness to learn and help where needed.
This is an onsite role at Platte River's headquarters campus in Fort Collins that is scheduled Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm as four 10-hour shifts. Level II and III technicians are subject to respond to after-hours callouts on an as-needed basis.

Essential duties
Assigned to Level I technicians:
The facilities services technician I is needs to have effective verbal and written communication skills and be able to learn to read and understand mechanical prints and technical manuals, work safely around equipment and understand basic safety procedures and work practices. Strong computer, math, reading and writing skills and a demonstrated ability to take initiative and proactively develop technical knowledge and working relationships with others are essential for growth.
Level II technicians are proficient at performing routine maintenance work on equipment, including determining the type of maintenance needed. They are able to multi-task and become more knowledgeable and familiar with applicable building codes and industry-standard safety practices.
Level III technicians assume a leadership role and demonstrate the ability to tactfully and effectively communicate with staff and contract personnel through verbal and written communications. These individuals must be able to work on RFPs, follow detailed procurement protocols, and navigate work order software systems.

- Documents work procedures and parts used under supervision.
- Communicates equipment status and technical information.
- Practices safety awareness and complies with safety standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Performs or assists with preventative maintenance and repairs to HVAC/R systems.
- Assists with electrical and mechanical building modifications.
- Assists with project planning, budget, and closeout.
- Reads and interprets data associated with facility equipment reliability.
- Works collaboratively with subcontractors and verifies repairs.
- Participates in rotational on-call status and responds to after-hours incidents.
- Advanced HVAC/R systems: Maintains and repairs HVAC equipment and systems, including building automation.
- Cybersecurity: Coordinates with the technology department for cyber risk assessments.
- Project management: Plans and performs building modifications, manages projects, and reviews project documents.
- Multiple site management: Manages landscaping, irrigation systems, and substation sites.
- Specialized knowledge: Maintains extensive knowledge of HVAC, control systems, electrical systems, and environmental regulations.
- Electrical maintenance: Plans and performs electrical modifications, maintains UPS systems, and oversees solar array systems.
- Advanced troubleshooting: Programming and troubleshooting of building automation systems.
- Comprehensive support: Provides support services across various areas, including facility safety and site management.

Eligibility requirements
Required for all facilities services technicians (I, II or III):
- Must maintain a valid driver's license and insurability that meets corporate vehicle liability policy requirements.
- Are subject to random drug screening in accordance with DOT regulations.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience working in facilities maintenance, farm or ranch experience, project management, HVAC, or electrical maintenance.
- Current enrollment or work towards completion of a certified apprenticeship program is considered ideal.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, completion of a certified apprenticeship in related field, or over 5 years of equivalent experience in HVAC, electrical, or project management.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, completion of a certified apprenticeship in applicable field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, project management, or related field.
- Valid journeyman or master license for electrical, HVAC/R, or plumbing trades.
