As a member of the City's executive team, you will interact on a daily basis alongside the City Administrator, department leadership, and City Council. Exciting prospect to advance your local government management career as t he three most recent employees of this position have left to serve as city manager / assistant city manager in their respective communities.
GENERAL PURPOSE
The Assistant to the City Administrator provides professional-level managerial support to the City Administrator on various complex and sensitive administrative matters; provides high-level research and analysis; reviews, reports, and monitors legislative and other intergovernmental activities; serves as the City's webmaster; and responsible to provide professional quality work in areas of public relations and special projects as assigned.
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Provide assistance and support to the City Administrator.
- Respond to and resolve public inquiries.
- Monitors, analyzes, and evaluates legislation and other intergovernmental activities affecting the City; prepares and / or coordinates appropriate responses to legislation impacting City operations and the community.
- Serve as a project manager for a variety of special projects; facilitate project activities and resolve problems; develop and submit project reports to the City Administrator.
- Manage the City's website.
- Develops ideas for public relations programs.
- Attends City Council meetings and manages the presentation and recording equipment.
- Serves as the liaison between the City and the City's internet, phone, and other IT service providers.
- Maintain the City's performance management goals and programs.
- Assists City departments in detailed research and analysis.
- Supervise and coordinate efforts of administrative interns, and other staff as applicable.
- Serve as a staff liaison for a variety of boards and commissions.
- Other duties as assigned.
