What are the responsibilities and job description for the Route Coordinator position at Pleasanton Independent School District?
Primary Purpose:
Coordinate routing of pupil transportation for regular and special needs routes to ensure safe, efficient, timely, and economical transportation services. Ensure efficient operation and provide clerical/secretarial services for the transportation department.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Valid Texas commercial driver’s license class B with Passenger and School Bus endorsements.
School Bus Driver Safety Training Certification
High School Diploma or GED
Medical Examiner’s Certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Proficient in using a personal computer with different software programs to maintain/develop routes, spreadsheets, and databases.
Ability to receive and give written and verbal instructions.
Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and physical exam.
Effective organizational, positive communication, professional, interpersonal skills and provide great customer service.
Ability to work as a team and independently.
Major responsibilities and duties:
Use the software program Transfinder to develop, maintain, schedule routes and student information in accordance with Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies.
Utilize the Ascender program to access student information, create and process purchase orders to order supplies/parts.
Ability to use computer programs to monitor and enter employee absences, hours, and time sheet information for payroll.
Serve as a substitute bus driver as needed.
Maintain credentials data base for employees.
Answering/directing calls in a timely manner and assisting visitors.
Assist bus drivers and bus monitors with route, student information, and If Director is not in.
Working with campuses and parents on a daily basis by phone/email to issue bus passes for students.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain emotional control under stress.
May work irregular and prolonged hours.
