Job Description :
We seek an innovative and dynamic principal scientist to spearhead protein and antibody engineering efforts within our Rapid Response Group (RRG), a specialized team in our Discovery Division. The RRG operates with a hands-on, mission-focused approach, parachuting into high-impact projects to develop critical tools, methodologies, and data that enhance our therapeutic programs. The successful candidate will be a key member of this elite team, driving research on protein targets and therapeutic development. They are able to effectively balance high-level scientific ideation with hands-on execution at the bench. This role is crucial to our R&D mission, directly influencing our success; In this role, you will take full ownership of high-impact projects, ensuring their success by leveraging your expertise, creativity, and resilience.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage all aspects of selection, design, and optimization of fusion proteins and antibodies in different formats to optimize their function
- Spearhead the conceptualization, design, and cloning of innovative bispecific or similar multi-specific antibody formats, including dual / multi-targeting capabilities.
- Coordinate small- and large-scale protein expression, specifically in insect and mammalian cells, and maintain eukaryotic cells for all users in the team
- Lead design, implementation, and troubleshooting of novel purification protocols to address technical challenges and produce high-quality protein
- Oversee development and optimization of assays to screen and test function and affinity of antibodies and recombinant proteins
- Synthesize data to clearly communicate progress and status in weekly / biweekly lab meetings, ensuring adherence to timelines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Provide thoughtful leadership and mentorship to junior RRG team members, encouraging collaboration and productivity across the group
- Collaborate cross-functionally with immuno-oncology, virology, and structural biology
- teams, sharing expertise to enhance our ability to work with a diverse family of proteins.
