Outside Sales Representative
Reports To: EVP or Territory Sales Manager
Work Hours: Full Time
FLSA Status: Exempt
Branch: Stamford, CT
Position Purpose:
Establish new customers and maintain long lasting relationships to uncover sales opportunities in order to grow the footprint of Plimpton & Hills Corporation within the assigned territory.
Essential Functions:
- Understand and anticipate the needs of customers
- Work to expand and maintain a database of prospects within an assigned territory
- Proactively seek opportunities to obtain new customers and research potential clients/accounts in order to identify key players
- Use active listening skills to gain knowledge on what products fit client needs and introduce these products to clients accordingly
- Stay current on existing and emerging product by attending trainings
- Follow-up on all generated quotations to assure that the customer is being serviced and to document the outcome of the proposed solution
- Generate profitable sales orders
- Successfully close, on-board, and retain accounts using sales and customer service processes
- Report competitive conditions and feedback from customers to management.
- Maintain ethical, cooperative relationships consistent with company image and company/branch goals in the marketplace with builders, contractors, architects, professional remodelers etc. in order to grow profitable sales
- Continuously expand product knowledge in order to best service the customer
- Determine product sale price in accordance with company procedure as well as address questions about product availability
- Keep pricing lists and structures confidential
Qualifications
Experience, Education & Skills:
- Must possess a valid drivers license and a clean motor vehicle record
- Mathematical skills, accuracy in measurements

- Professional in behavior and appearance

- Minimum of 3 years industry sales experience preferred
- High school diploma or GED required
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
- The associate is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
- Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
