Position Overview:
The primary purpose of the Bookkeeper position is to assist the Business Office Manager in the day-to-day accounting functions of the facility in accordance with current acceptable accounting and cost reimbursement principles relating to the long-term care operation.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of day-to-day functions of the accounting department.
- Balance daily census to Nurses’ census.
- Assist in the completion of initial and re-authorization Treatment Authorization Requests as needed, including all pertinent documentation necessary for approval.
- Assist in the completion of documentation for Medi-Cal benefits for beneficiaries, as necessary.
- Enter and maintain account data on the accounting computer system.
- Research and perform collection activity on accounts, i.e., claims submission, follow-up, and correspondence.
- Disburse, receipt, and maintain records of resident trust accounts.
- Perform Bookkeeper Assistant functions as necessary or directed, i.e., letters, phone calls, photocopying, etc.
- Assist Admissions Coordinator in completion of admission paperwork as necessary or directed.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Speak, read, write, and understand the English language.
- Desire to be part of a dynamic team.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
- 1 year of experience in skilled nursing facility or healthcare setting.
- This position requires the successful completion of a background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
