ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Take ownership of our organization's financial health, using data-driven insights to identify opportunities for cost savings, revenue optimization, and overall financial improvement.
- Drive financial projects from start to finish, ensuring clear outcomes and measurable success.
- Lead and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Tax Reporting, Payroll, and Cash Management.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and manage risk proactively.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with department heads to establish and monitor budgets aligned with company goals.
- Lead the Annual Budgeting and Planning Process, driving accountability and ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities for the Accounting team, fostering a high-performing and engaged department.
- Support HR functions for the team as needed, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve accounting processes, enhancing accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency.
- Establish, maintain, and document internal controls and procedures to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure compliance.
EXPECTATIONS
- Deliver accurate and timely financial reports by the 5th business day of each month, with clear insights into performance trends and variances.
- Ensure on-time processing of payroll, invoices, and accounts payable, with zero late penalties or missed deadlines.
- Minimize accounts receivable aging, ensuring over 90% of receivables are collected within agreed terms.
- Actively identify and implement process improvements, achieving at least 5% annual cost savings in key expense categories.
- Provide clear, actionable financial guidance to department heads during monthly budget reviews.
- Successfully lead the Annual Budgeting and Planning Process, ensuring cross-departmental alignment and delivering the final approved budget on time.
- Build and maintain a high-performing Accounting team, conducting quarterly performance reviews and maintaining low turnover.
- Ensure compliance with all tax reporting, filing deadlines, and regulatory requirements, with no penalties or missed filings.
- Maintain internal controls and documented procedures, with no material weaknesses identified during internal or external audits.
- Work closely with the owner to provide actionable insights for strategic decisions. Regularly present financial performance updates and improvement recommendations to the leadership team.
- Act as a culture carrier, reinforcing the company’s mission of "changing the way the world views skilled trades" through transparent financial practices.
- Be approachable and collaborative with the team, fostering an environment of trust, accountability, and shared success.
MUST HAVES
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing and improving financial performance in a mid-sized organization.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Strong understanding of compliance, internal controls, and risk management.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and ERP systems.
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, financial modeling).
- Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and applicable tax laws.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong work ethic and sense of accountability.
- Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
