Position Details
POSITION : Dean of Student Support
East Middle School
PRIMARY JOB GOAL : A Dean of Students is responsible for collaborating with the building administrative team in fulfilling assigned duties related to the daily supervision and management of student-related school operations and functions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. Interpersonal and judgmental skills necessary to work effectively with students, staff, and the public.
3. Ability to analyze work and projects to achieve maximum efficiency, anticipates problems, and provides solutions.
4. Possess excellent organizational skills
5. Ability to set, manage, and coordinate multiple priorities.
6. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
7. Ability to take initiative and work independently without direct supervision.
8. Ability to maintain tact and diplomacy under stressful situations.
9. Ability to maintain confidential information.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Acts as the first line of authority for all student discipline / intervention issues. Will work to resolve student-related issues and involve the administration whenever necessary.
2. Develops and implements programming that supports students with making appropriate choices.
3. Ensures that students are aware of the Student Code of Conduct.
4. Provides ongoing follow-up and support to students who are experiencing serious negative behavior patterns.
5. Supervises and manages the building in the event that the building administrative team is absent.
6. Utilizes and supports the implementation of the Response to Intervention (RtI) process to support student needs.
7. Becomes familiar with and implements effective techniques to decrease disruptive student behavior.
8. Maintains a high level of understanding of current district procedures and policies.
9. Develops positive relationships with parents and initiates programs to encourage parental involvement.
10. Attends and participates in scheduled administrative team meetings as needed.
11. Maintains regular contact with the other Dean of Students and the administrative team to ensure consistency.
12. Interacts in a team environment in an effective manner.
13. Collects, examines, and reports data related to student discipline / intervention issues.
14. Completes end of year reporting requirements utilizing internal systems ( Zangle).
15. Monitors the student lunch hours as needed.
16. Provides supervision during the after-school hours.
17. Supervises extracurricular activities as assigned.
18. Other duties as assigned.

61,000 – $87,309
Salary will be prorated to start date
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : 200 days per year
