Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks and supply labor related to grounds and way maintenance, equipment and furniture moving, equipment operation, construction labor and other tasks as assigned by the Manager of Grounds.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform tasks relating to the installation and maintenance of turf including mowing, fertilization, irrigation insect/weed control, dethatching, seeding, sodding, aeration, site preparation, and athletic field layout and painting.
- Perform tasks relating to the installation and maintenance of trees, shrubs and flowers including pruning, cabling, fertilization, irrigation, insect/weed control and removal as required.
- Perform tasks related to construction, installation and maintenance of sidewalls, patios, retaining walls, benches, sign standards, stairs and sweeping and maintaining of hard surface areas.
- Operate and maintain equipment to perform above tasks, including tractors, dump/plow trucks, lawnmowers, trimmers, chain saws, bucket trucks, rototillers, sand/salt spreaders and snow blowers, etc.
- Assist with moving and special events as required.
- Act as crew leader in some tasks as assigned.
- Report under emergency conditions such as snow removal, down trees and storm water maintenance as required.
- One year of experience in grounds maintenance or a related field/area.
- A valid NH driver’s license.
- Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform characteristic duties of the job including heavy lifting and exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
- Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience beyond one year in grounds maintenance.
- Snow removal experience.
- Equipment maintenance experience.
- Experience with a Bobcat tractor or John Deere 310, backhoe, or equivalent excavating experience.
- Proven team player.
