What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Counsel position at PMA Companies?
PMA Companies has an immediate opening for an attorney in the Office of General Counsel. As a member of the General Counsel’s office, this position will assist with any legal task, but will focus primarily on drafting and reviewing contracts, insurance policies, and related forms, as well as regulatory and licensing matters. In addition, the position will provide other legal support including litigation support as required.
- Provide legal services to Old Republic specialty companies that write business using PMA insurance companies and to whom PMA provides legal services. Legal services will include reviewing and advising on contracts of all types, insurance policy forms, regulatory compliance (including privacy, security and claims compliance) and claims matters.
- Provide legal services to PMA on matters assigned by the General Counsel and Assistant General Counsels.
- Demonstrate commitment to Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and apply knowledge of compliance policies and procedures, standards and laws applicable to job responsibilities in the performance of work.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a law firm or corporate legal department
- Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts, insurance policies and forms
- Broad based property and casualty insurance experience, particularly commercial insurance
- Experience with inland marine insurance, workers’ compensation insurance, accident and health insurance, excess and surplus lines and/or other forms of specialty insurance a plus
- Experience interfacing with regulators in response to regulatory inquiries.
- Experience and familiarity with cybersecurity and privacy laws and regulations a plus
