The Hollywood Reporter is seeking a news writer with a passion for the entertainment industry to aggregate, write, edit, and publish news content for THR’s dynamic, award-winning website, THR.com, as well as the brand’s social media platforms. The schedule will vary; must be flexible to work nights and weekends.
The news writer will work in the newsroom, helping to identify, advance and curate breaking entertainment and viral news stories, as well as aggregate from other authoritative sources, and will occasionally assist with the editing of stories from staff and freelance reporters. The news writer may also curate the homepage for THR.com, post content on social media platforms and edit stories.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 2 years’ experience writing and editing for a digital media site, magazine or newspaper
- Excellent news judgment and editing skills
- Familiarity with WordPress or other CMS publishing and web production tools, and understanding of SEO
- Experience curating content for social media platforms
- Experience with photo editing tools, Photoshop/Adobe Creative Suite preferred
- Team player with positive, proactive, problem-solving attitude
- Ability to work late nights and weekend news shifts, and work in a 24/7 news cycle.
This position will pay $66,750. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits. PMC is committed to the health and wellness of our employees.
