Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Education and Training Supervisor, the Curriculum and Operations works in unison with colleagues to further the impact of the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS) Education and Training Unit.
Supervised by the Education and Training Supervisor, the Curriculum and Operations Specialist with be tasked with supporting the upkeep of the department's learning management system (LMS) including maintaining user accounts, obtaining and disseminating data insights, and providing technical assistance via the DBHIDS Learning Hub Help Desk.
In collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SME), the Curriculum and Operations Specialist will utilize adult learning principles and instructional design best practices in the design, development, and dissemination of eLearning solutions, instructional materials, and high-impact training programs intended to meet the needs of DBHIDS workforce and community stakeholders. The Curriculum and Operations Specialist will support the unit's monitoring and evaluation (M&E) efforts to measure the effectiveness of learning programs and ensure content meet intended learning objectives and remains aligned with organizational goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructional Design and Development
- Content Design: Tailor training programs, eLearning courses, and other instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of the DBHIDS workforce and community stakeholders using adult learning principles and instructional design best practices
- Content Updates: Regularly review and update training materials to ensure they remain relevant, accurate, and impactful
- Collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Partner with SMEs to translate complex concepts into accessible and engaging learning experiences for the DBHIDS workforce and community stakeholders
- Multimedia Integration: Develop interactive multimedia content using modern technology tools such as the Adobe Suite, Articulate Storyline, and Microsoft 365 to enhance learner engagement and knowledge retention
- Content Design: Tailor training programs, eLearning courses, and other instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of the DBHIDS workforce and community stakeholders using adult learning principles and instructional design best practices
- Content Maintenance: Collaborate unit staff to ensure that existing digital learning materials to current, accessible, and functional
Monitoring and Evaluation (ME):
- Program Effectiveness: Design and implement evaluation frameworks to assess the impact and effectiveness of training programs
- Alignment with Objectives: Ensure that learning solutions align with organizational goals and intended learning outcomes
- Continuous Improvement: Use evaluation data to update and improve instructional content and deliver methods
Learning Management System (LMS) Administration:
- LMS Maintenance: Oversee the upkeep of the DBHIDS Learning Hub, including user account management, course updates, and technical troubleshooting
- Data Analytics and Reporting: Collect, analyze and disseminate data insight from the LMS to inform decision-making and demonstrate program impact
- Technical Support: Provide timely assistance to end users via the DBHIDS Learning Hub Help Desk
Program Lifecycle Support
- Program Management: Collaborate with Public Health Program Analysts in planning, coordinating, and managing the delivery of behavioral health and public health training programs, such as Mental Health First Aid
- Instructor Support: Observe, coach, and mentor volunteer instructors to ensure consistent and high-quality program delivery
- Logistical Preparation: Support the preparation of materials, schedules, and other program logistics
Additional Responsibilities:
- Technology Exploration: Research and integrate emerging learning technologies intended to enhance the learning experience and recommend improvements to the unit's digital learning infrastructure
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all training materials comply with relevant standards, guidelines, and best practices while remaining in alignment with department goals
Skills Required:
- Solid knowledge of instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and learner-centric methodologies
- Skilled in using modern productivity tools like Microsoft 365 and eLearning development tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, or similar platforms and can adapt rapidly to innovation
- Possesses a strong understanding of a hands-on experience with Learning Management Systems and related eLearning standards such as SCORM, AICC, and xAPI
- Demonstrates enthusiasm for leveraging technology and creative solutions to drive impactful learning experiences
- Excels in critical thinking, content writing, and editing to create clear, engaging, and effective learning materials
- Outstanding interpersonal and organizational abilities with a knack for adapting to diverse teams and stakeholders
- Maintains efficiency and effectiveness while managing high workloads and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Committed to fostering inclusivity and equality, with experience working in or eagerness to support a multicultural environment. Bilingual or bicultural expertise is an asset in supporting diverse learner needs.
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree required in a related field with at least three (3) years of experience in a behavioral/ public health, educational, or criminal justice setting
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a related field (Information Technology, Instructional Design, Education, Communications)
- At least five (5) years of professional training, experience working in a training, education, or communications environment
- Knowledge of DBHIDS pillars or recovery, resilience, and self-determination; the DBHDS system transformation; and behavioral health resources
