An Assistant Chef/ Cook is responsible for preparing food following the appropriate menus and recipes in accordance with accepted dietary practices as directed by the Head Chef. We are seeking a passionate and eager Assistant Chef to join our kitchen team. As an Assistant Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen staff to help prepare and cook meals, maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, and ensure that all food is prepared to the highest standards. This role offers the opportunity to learn and grow in the culinary field, while contributing to a dynamic and fast-paced kitchen environment. Works diligently to ensure that every resident receives the highest quality and excellent dining experience with each meal. The employee values the Community as the residents' home and works to create attributes of home and models person centered care.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to the menu.
• Help with food prep, chopping, and setting up ingredients for dishes.
• Ensure that kitchen equipment and tools are properly maintained and cleaned.
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
• Assist in the daily cleaning and organization of the kitchen.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure timely and efficient meal preparation.
• Monitor food quality and presentation before serving.
• Handle ingredients and dishes with care, ensuring proper storage and labeling.
• Support the Head Chef with various tasks and kitchen operations as needed.

Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
• Previous experience in a kitchen or culinary school is preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• A passion for cooking and a willingness to learn.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent desired.
