BRS Supervisor Job Description

Job Title: BRS Program Supervisor Department: BRS

Reports To: Program Manager(s) FLSA Status: Non-exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is an integral role within the organization, requiring great attention to detail and the ability to consistently train and support the Residential Treatment Coaches while ensuring timely reports and notifications are relayed to the Program Manager, as well as offering general field support in emergent situations. Being primary swing shift this position is eligible for prevailing wage incentives.

KEY or ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:

· Monitoring and documenting client behaviors and activities; participating and assisting with educational, social and recreational activities; providing a safe and therapeutic environment

· Interacting with team members and clients in a warm compassionate manner.

· Verbally de-escalating and/or redirecting clients when necessary

· Promoting client achievement of treatment plan goals and objectives. Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures

· Responsible for monitoring the behavior and activities of each client; reports any concerns regarding the health, safety, or well-being of a client to the appropriate authority

· Serves as a positive role model; utilizes approved behavior modification techniques to help clients learn desirable behaviors

· Provides positive reinforcement and support to clients and team members

· Conducts and participates in basic life skills activities

· Provides clients with training or assistance with basic daily living skills such as: bathing, shaving, grooming etc; uses token/point system to reward positive behavior

· Assists in the planning and implementation of individual treatment plan; supports client goals; encourages and assists clients in achieving their goals.

· Processes admissions and discharges for voluntary and/or involuntary clients; orients the client to the facility; explains rules, policies and procedures.

· Completes required program documentation

· Completes reports as required; daily, weekly, monthly etc.

· Documents service activity notes daily on clients' activities, behavior patterns, and changes in behavior patterns, medications

· Reviews and documents in shift report logs, shift logs, companion files etc.

· Obtains required program information, inventories client valuables.

· Administering medications; counts control substance medications; supervises self-administered medications

· Conducts security/safety checks as needed; monitors visitors/clients for contraband such as knives, razors, belts; conducts searches; removes dangerous items; performs and/or assists with verbal de-escalation

· Collects urine specimens; delivers to laboratory if required

· Utilizes infection control procedures when necessary

· Responsible to shop for food/supplies/clothing for clients, advocating for the youth when items are needed/requested/required

· Assists with the preparation and dispensing of snacks a meals and training team members to cook and dispense meals to the youth.

· Participates in meetings as required; converses with team members on client's progress or lack of progress.

· Links clients to needed services; training team members to make doctor appointments and ensuring the appointments are made and attended

· Performs and trains team members and youth on general cleaning responsibilities such as laundry, mopping, garbage removal etc.

· Attends training /in-services as required

· Transports clients to other agencies, hospitals, homes, community activities, meetings etc.

· Will not leave shift without proper relief from staff. Must always maintain ratio.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in recruiting, orientating, training, and managing personnel in the program
  • Supervises the Support Staff Including training and documentation of the training.
  • Create solutions to program problems and inform Manger/Director of solutions and approval.
  • Completion in the development, implantation and monitoring of individualized Behavior Management Plans and Individualized Support Plans for each client.
  • Following WACS 388-148 for continued treatment and supervision issues of staff and clients. Maintaining the household appearance and property cleanup & maintenance.
  • Function as spokesperson for the program in the community.
  • Assist in completing all other written plans as requested by the Program Manager.
  • Other responsibilities as defined by the Management as changes occur by policy and WACS.

· (If chosen) Potential PQI team responsibilities: Inputting data into the data management system; using data collection tools and forms; reading and interpreting reports; and using data to improve performance.

  • Share on-call responsibilities equally with program managers as per on-call policy.
  • Waiting to engage on-call will only be paid when work is performed. On-call phone response will be paid in 15-minute increments and rounded up to the nearest quarter hour. It is the responsibility of the employee to track and implement time when on-call.
  • While on-call they must be within 30 minutes of response time or previously approved with manager.
  • Fulfill planned mandatory overtime shifts as needed as per VP, scheduling, and/or Program Manager.

Requirement:

  • Experience with developmentally, physically and emotionally challenged adolescents.
  • Demonstrated/Documented skill in developing, implementing and evaluating behavior management plans/Individualized Services and Treatment Plans.
  • Demonstrated/Documented ability at managing staff and fiscal resources the usage of company checks.
  • Demonstrated/Documented ability in the area of community relations.
  • Must be able to pass a Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) background check.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as support staff/direct care and/or working on a college degree.
  • Supervisory abilities that promote effective staff performance.
  • Relevant experience, training and demonstrated skills in each area that he or she will be supervising.
