Job Summary:
The Safety Coordinator will assist the plant EHS Manager to continuously improve the plant safety programs for PNW Veg Co, LLC.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
· Coordinates the safety programs to promote and ensure a safe working environment.
· Reviews current safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
· Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards. Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics
- Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
· Submits recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.
· Stops operations and activities that could harm staff or equipment.
· Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
· Shares environmental safety information with appropriate levels in the organization.
· Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
· Conduct Training sessions and certify employees in safety protocols.
· Run Safety meetings and organize safety – related events
· Manage and maintain certification records for all employees.
· Supports completion of OSHA Logs.
· Supports workers compensation program and SAIF workman’s comp claims.
· Oversees Safety Manager duties during their absence.
· Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours, including evenings, nights and weekends, as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent management and supervisory skills.
· Solid knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to conduct safety inspections and trainings.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
· Bilingual and bi-literate skills in English/Spanish
Education and Experience:
· Associate’s degree and or equivalent related experience in leading or supervising an industrial safety program.
· Advanced training or certification in safety preferred.
· At least three years of safety experience.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
· Ability to travel throughout facilities and farms, often on uneven ground requiring stand and walking for periods of time as required to conduct safety inspections.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
