About The Role
We are seeking a creative, driven Community Impact Manager to lead POAH Communities’ Community Impact efforts on site for our Washington DC properties: The Asberry at Barry Farm and Garfield Hills. The Community Impact Manager is responsible for managing a resident engagement strategy that supports the work in our Mid-Atlantic Region; also responsible for providing resource connections to residents through partner connections.
The Asberry at Barry Farms is the first building of the Barry Farm redevelopment offers 108 affordable apartment homes. Garfield Hills is conveniently located in Southeast Washington, DC. and offers the feel of a neighborhood community with the modern conveniences of proximity to a big city.

Reporting to the VP, Strategics Partnerships, and working closely with property management and Community Impact teams, the Community Impact Manager will be responsible for developing and managing community engagement and impact strategy. The Community Impact Manager will be working closely with POAH Mid-Atlantic development and POAHC Operations team and the Midwest Community Impact team, the Community Impact Manager is responsible for managing a resident engagement strategy that supports the work in our Mid-Atlantic Region; also responsible for providing resource connections to residents through partner connections.

About Your Impact

- Collaborate and coordinate with the Property Management team to ensure residents remain stably housed and in compliance with lease terms.
- Lead community assessment and engagement process, to include resident household level surveys, stakeholder engagement and strategic planning and implementation
- Establish goals, track and measure progress; analyze and use resident and program data as the basis for continuous improvement
- Develop strategy for engaging resident feedback and community input, including focus groups community outreach events, engagement with local stakeholders in the DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) area
- Work collaboratively and creatively to develop relationships with a variety of non-profit organizations and public entities, including direct service organizations, community development groups, local colleges and universities, public officials and more
- Utilize relationships with organizations and public entities to develop programs, partnerships referrals and creative opportunities for resident success.
- Develop, implement, and coordinate resource service programming in collaboration with various local partners including DCHA, FSFSC and others.
- Identify leadership development capacity building opportunities and community engagement resources for all Hillsdale community residents including the Barry Farm redevelopment, Garfield Hills and all future and current POAH/POAHC properties in the (DMV) region.
- Ability to navigate in any community environment and support positive outcomes and new partnerships
- Identify promising programs or opportunities for youth and families throughout the area Administration
- Complete a variety of reports and written documentation as required by Supervisor
- Provide support and guidance to other Community Impact Team members in the region.
- Direct and prioritize the workload of staff when applicable
- Responsible for development and performance management of her/his team
- Perform administration, conduct interviews and make recommendations for new hires and/or replacement employees
- Complete other related tasks as assigned
- College Degree preferred; degree in social services, urban planning, public health, human services, or community development preferred
- At least four years of relevant experience required
- Knowledge of resident services “best practices” and/or experience in comparable community development or human services field
- Familiarity with property management in affordable rental housing
- Ability to manage data and conduct basic data analysis
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills
- Proven success in building and sustaining strong relationships with team members, partners and community stakeholders
- Resourceful in solving problems and maximizing resources
- Basic proficiency in the use of computers including Word, Outlook and Excel
- Ability to work periodic overtime and flexible hours required, including weekends and evenings
