Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Surgery Scheduler to join our medical team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating surgical appointments, ensuring that patients receive timely and efficient care. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a background in medical administrative support. The Surgery Scheduler will work closely with patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to facilitate seamless scheduling processes.
Requirements
Essential Functions:
- Schedule surgical procedures for patients, providing timely communication with patients, physicians, office staff, and surgery center and hardware vendor personnel.
- Confirm all pre-operative testing and medical clearances are ordered and completed.
- Assure appropriate coordination with surgery centers.
- Communicate any schedule changes with physicians, patients and surgery center personnel quickly and efficiently as needed.
- Schedule both pre- / post-operative office visits and ensure all clinical and payer information is available and accurate.
- Answer phone calls and return messages quickly in a professional and courteous manner.
- Diligently maintains accurate and up-to-date scheduling information at all times.
- Complete post-op data entry in a timely, and accurate manner.
- Become familiar with each doctor’s preferences, establishing, and maintaining open and effective communication to ensure good / efficient working relationships.
- Accurate data entry of patient information into the electronic medical record system from wound care clinic records to ensure accurate and timely billing of wound care services provided by physicians outside of the office.
- Understands additional tasks may be assigned to meet business needs.
QUALIFICATIONS: [Education, Training, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Expected Behaviors]
Required:
- Minimum 1-year previous scheduling experience in a healthcare environment plus 1 years of customer service experience with high school diploma or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA/Confidentiality legal requirements.
- Must be highly organized and motivated with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously in an extremely busy work environment, prioritizing tasks, utilizing time efficiently, and maintaining focus, with close attention to detail ensuring accuracy.
- Ability to adapt to changes and unexpected events and handle challenging situations with extreme patience and professionalism.
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills, providing effective working relationships with a diverse patient population, healthcare professionals and work colleagues.
- Committed and reliable, reporting to work on time consistently as scheduled to ensure business needs are met.
- Experience working in a team environment where lines of communication must be maintained with multiple parties.
- Must be able to ensure accurate, timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Respectfully accepts coaching and guidance provided constructively to ensure continual improvement, career growth, and development.
- PC Proficient with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience in ModMed (EMR) a plus.
- Legal eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
- Ability to successfully pass an in-depth background investigation, including clean DMV report and pre-employment drug screen.
Desired:
- Experience working in a podiatry and/or orthopedic office.
- Spanish speaking a plus.

Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
