Job Description:
Poe's Tavern on Sullivan’s Island is seeking an experienced and upbeat Front of House Manager to join our team. Positions include either one Full-Time Manager, or Part-Time Manager with the options of Part-Time Server shifts. The ideal candidate will have a passion for leadership, ensuring a memorable experience for every guest, and will readily support our team in the successful execution of the restaurant's daily operations. They must also be a hands-on, quick-stepped, energetic and enthusiastic leader who will ensure the highest quality of guest satisfaction, service, and food. The applicant must have the proven ability to positively and energetically manage individuals and teams. We are active working managers so be prepared to get in the trenches with your team. Poe’s Tavern is a high-volume, open-air concept consisting of a hardworking, highly trained, stable team that works well together and has a good time while doing it. We believe in a motivational, servant leadership mentality. No late nights as we close at 10PM. We believe in not burning out our team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the hiring, training, and development of new employees, and terminate when necessary while in the Management Role
- Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to all current health standards
- Understand and adhere to restaurant management and hospitality guidelines and expectations.
- Hold staff accountable to expected results and provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues.
- Manage scheduled shifts which include: daily decision making, scheduling, planning while upholding standards, product ordering, product quality and cleanliness.
- Investigate and resolve complaints concerning food quality and service.
- Have a basic knowledge of Excel/Words/Google Docs
- Become familiar with inventory levels that are conducted regularly.
- Attend weekly management meetings to go over budgets, any changes to procedures, staffing status, and any other problems or progress within the restaurant.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a leadership role within the food service or hospitality industry is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of bartending practices, culinary techniques, and food preparation methods preferred.
- Proven ability to manage shifts effectively while maintaining team morale and productivity.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations is essential.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to train and mentor staff effectively.
- Experience with Toast POS systems is advantageous.
