We are currently seeking a full-time (in Bismarck office) experienced and motivated HR Generalist to join our team.

Position Overview:
The HR Generalist will play a key role in managing and overseeing a variety of human resource functions within the firm. This role involves recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, onboarding and off boarding, benefits administration, and HR compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HR practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

The HR Generalist will act as a trusted advisor to employees and management, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Employee Engagement: Implement initiatives to enhance employee morale and engagement, including regular feedback sessions and surveys. Develop action plans based on feedback to continuously improve the work environment.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Full recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring the firm attracts and retains top talent.
  • Employee Wellness: Promote employee wellness by advocating for work-life balance initiatives and offering access to resources like Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and wellness support.
  • Talent Acquisition Strategy: Develop and execute a recruitment strategy that aligns with the firm’s growth goals. Proactively source candidates through various channels, including job boards, networking, fairs, and referrals.
  • Job Postings & Candidate Sourcing: Draft compelling job descriptions and manage job postings across various platforms. Screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate interviews with hiring managers.
  • Interview Process: Manage all stages of the interview process, from scheduling to feedback collection. Train managers in the best interview practices to ensure a consistent and positive experience for candidates.
  • Offer Management & Negotiation: Collaborate with hiring managers to extend competitive offers. Handle negotiations to ensure alignment with the firm’s compensation policies and candidate expectations.
  • Policy Interpretation & Enforcement: Provide guidance on company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with HR laws and regulations. Investigate policy violations and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Onboarding: Develop and implement a comprehensive onboarding program to integrate new hires smoothly. Conduct orientation sessions covering firm policies, expectations, and culture. Monitor new hires during their probationary period, offering feedback and addressing any challenges. Ensure a successful transition for new employees.
  • Benefits: Oversee the management of employee benefits and assist in ensuring that employees have access to the necessary information and support related to benefits.
  • Benefits Administration: Work closely with external providers to manage benefits administration and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to benefits programs. Coordinate the annual benefits open enrollment process, providing clear communication and guidance to employees on available options and any changes to plans.
  • Benefits Enrollment & Communication: Assist employees with benefits enrollment, ensuring they understand available options, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks.
  • Benefits Inquiries & Support: Act as the primary contact for employee benefits-related inquiries, providing timely assistance and resolving any issues with benefits providers.
  • HR Compliance: Ensure that all HR activities, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits, and performance management, comply with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations. Stay updated on HR compliance issues to reduce legal risks and ensure the firm operates within legal boundaries.
  • Exit Interviews & Offboarding: Conduct exit interviews to gather insights from departing employees. Work with management to address any recurring issues and improve retention strategies.
  • Probationary Period Management: Responsible for supporting and promoting employee development through training programs and professional growth initiatives.
  • Training & Development Needs/Assessment: Work with managers to identify training needs within the firm and develop tailored programs to address skill gaps or support career progression.
  • Development of Training Programs: Coordinate in-house training sessions, workshops, and professional development opportunities in areas such as technical skills, leadership, and soft skills.
  • Mentorship & Coaching Programs: Promote mentorship programs within the firm to foster learning and knowledge sharing between experienced staff and newer employees. Follow and assess the effectiveness of training programs through employee feedback and performance metrics to ensure they align with firm goals.
  • Performance Management: Design, implement, and manage the firm’s performance management processes, ensuring that employees are motivated, growing, and aligned with company goals.
  • Goal Setting & Alignment: Collaborate with managers to set clear, measurable goals for employees that align with the firm’s objectives. Ensure employees understand how their roles contribute to overall success.
  • Performance Reviews: Oversee the semi-annual and annual performance review processes, providing tools and templates to ensure consistency and fairness across the firm. Guide managers in delivering actionable feedback.
  • Continuous Feedback & Coaching: Foster a culture of continuous feedback by encouraging managers to provide ongoing support to their teams. Assist in coaching employees on growth opportunities and areas for improvement. Work closely with managers to create development plans for employees aimed at skill-building and career growth. Track progress and support employees in reaching their goals. Collaborate with managers to address underperformance through Performance Improvement Plans, providing clear expectations and monitoring progress to ensure improvement. Design and implement programs to recognize and reward high performance, fostering employee motivation and engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • 2-3 years of HR experience, preferably within professional services or accounting firms.
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.
