Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable database systems for high-performance applications
- Optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and schema design
- Develop and manage ETL pipelines to ensure seamless data flow and integration
- Collaborate with software developers, data scientists, and business teams to support data needs
- Ensure database security and compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Perform regular backups, disaster recovery planning, and failover testing
- Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and provide on-call support as needed
- Research and implement emerging database technologies to enhance efficiency and scalability
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Proficiency in relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)
- Strong knowledge of SQL, database design, and normalization techniques
- Experience with data warehousing and ETL tools (e.g., Apache Nifi, Talend, Informatica)
- Familiarity with cloud database solutions such as AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, or Azure SQL Database
- Knowledge of database performance tuning and optimization strategies
- Strong understanding of database security, backup, and disaster recovery processes
- Experience with big data platforms like Snowflake, Redshift
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) for database deployment
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Certification in database technologies (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional)
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
