Service encompasses all aspects of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indian’s governmental operations. Position Summary: Responsible for assisting meal preparation for campers and camp staff during summer camp program, preparing meals for special diets, ordering food and cleaning/ organizing kitchen and appliances. In addition, assisting cook with general cleaning and maintaining meal records. A primary function is to ensure that each youth and visitor receives the highest caliber of service.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in management of all aspects of food service for camp;
- Ensure cleanliness of food preparation and delivery areas;
- Follow Food Code regulations pertaining to safe food practice;
- Assist with checking in all food/supply orders and rotating stock when new orders are check in;
- Assist with preparation with all meals in accordance with camp schedules as directed;
- Assist with meeting special food requirements for both campers and staff; e.g. gluten free and vegetarian diets;
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness is maintained in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and policies, including the Food Code and Manual;
- Sanitize kitchen surfaces regularly throughout the day;
- Wash hands frequently while working in the kitchen and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and policies;
- Promptly report any accidents or injuries in accordance with the Manual;
- Assist in weekly deep cleaning of specific areas in the kitchen, e.g. floor, vent hoods etc.
- All other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Excellent working skills including: communication skills, organizational skills and attention to details;
- Ability to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, injury)
- Must have all licenses and permits required under the applicable law, regulations and policies, including the Food Code.
- ServSafe certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:
- Frequently required to use hands and fingers to operate kitchen equipment.
- Frequently required to stand, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and bend.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Frequently required to work in extreme heat and moderate levels of noise.
- Frequently required to work with chemicals.
