Polaris Consulting Group seeks an experienced Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support an Army customer in designing, assessing, and securing multi-enclave systems.
This role requires expertise in DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), security assessments, vulnerability management, and system accreditation to ensure compliance with federal and DoD cybersecurity policies.
As an ISSE at Polaris, you will collaborate with skilled professionals to develop secure architectures, enforce compliance, and protect national security assets from evolving cyber threats.
Key Responsibilities:
The ISSE will perform, but is not limited to, the following tasks:
- Develop and Review Security Documentation – Create, review, and edit Authorization to Operate (ATO) documentation for accuracy and compliance with DoD security policies.
- Implement RMF Accreditation Processes – Guide systems through the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process to achieve accreditation and maintain security compliance.
- Conduct Cybersecurity Risk Assessments – Evaluate operational risks, assess vulnerabilities in open-source, GOTS, and COTS solutions, and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Utilize Security Tools – Implement and manage vulnerability scanning tools, DISA STIGs & SRGs, and compliance systems to ensure secure operations.
- Design Secure Architectures – Provide security planning, risk management, and engineering support for secure networking, computing, and enclave environments.
- Support Trusted System Integrations – Enforce secure system connections and external trusted relationships in compliance with DoD security policies.
- Collaborate with Engineering Teams – Partner with developers, network engineers, and security analysts to integrate security best practices into system development.
- Ensure Compliance and Best Practices – Guide development teams to meet security compliance requirements while optimizing performance and functionality.
- Provide Security Recommendations – Advise the Government on system-level security solutions and risk management strategies to meet mission needs.
Required Qualifications:
Active TS/SCI Clearance – U.S. Citizenship required.
Education & Experience:
- 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field;
- OR 9 years of experience as an ISSE with large multi-tiered programs and Bachelors in related field;
- OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
Cybersecurity & Accreditation Expertise:
- Experience with DoD system accreditation (DIACAP & RMF preferred).
- Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, network topologies, and system architectures.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (SSCP, Security , CCNA-Security, or GSEC).
- Familiarity with DISA STIGs & SRGs, vulnerability management tools, and automated security scanning systems.
- Collaboration & Communication Skills:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional cybersecurity team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess and resolve security challenges.
Desired Qualifications:
CISSP-ISSEP Certification – Highly desired.
