POSITION: Prevention Coordinator- Teen Program Coordinator (Part-Time)
HOURS: 20-30 hours/week, Mon-Fri, non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director
HOURLY WAGE: $15/ Hour ($15.50 effective Jan.1, 2025)
EMPLOYMENT: Part- Time At-will/Seasonal
The Police Activities League of Massena has been serving the youth of our community since 2013 by providing a positive place to go, results-oriented programming and professional staff to guide them.
Job Summary: Under the general supervision of the assistant director, The Teen Program Coordinator will create exciting and educational programs for teens in grades 7-12. You will plan activities and events that are fun and helpful for teens, giving them opportunities to learn life skills, make new friends, and explore different careers and hobbies.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
· Plan and organize programs like workshops, trips, and group activities for teens.
· Encourage teens to participate in programs and get involved.
· Provide guidance and support on decision-making and life skills.
· Plan activities that help teens learn about careers, hobbies, and leadership.
· Work with community members to offer special programs for teens.
Additional Responsibilities
· Maintain the upkeep, safety, security, and appearance of the Club.
· Maintain all required paperwork to track programs and member participation.
· Promote and stimulate interest in activities through bulletin board displays, newsletters, flyers, and announcements of upcoming programs by displaying enthusiasm in activities offered.
· Maintain upkeep of all recreation equipment and facilities. Report supplies needed for facility and programs as needed to supervisor.
· Work with staff and parents/guardians to recognize members for good work & discuss disciplinary issues that may occur at the Club.
· Provide direction for volunteers to stimulate participation in programs.
· Must provide quality customer service by meeting and greeting the public, parents, members, and outside groups who enter the facility. Be prepared to provide guided tours and answer questions.
· Assists Director in working to ensure safety and success of the overall program.
· Promotes and stimulates cooperative relationships and interest in Club activities and events.
· Motivate and guide PAL youth with daily Club operations and programs.
· Actively engages parents and families of youth members in Club programs and activities.
· Provide direction for volunteers to stimulate participation in programs.
Other Duties:
· Abide by the Police Activities League of Massena Policies & Procedures.
· Attend local trainings and workshops in the field as directed.
· Attend staff meetings and other Club sponsored events.
· Abides by Federal and State Laws.
· Wear appropriate staff uniform while working at and/or attending Police Activities League of Massena functions.
· Perform other duties as assigned by Director and Administration.
Requirements:
· First Aid & CPR certified. ((Certification may be provided by the organization)
· Experience in Recreation, Child Development, or equivalent experience in related field.
· At least one year experience and knowledge with youth development principles; education programs; working effectively with schools, parents and others in the community to support educational achievement.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
· Requires the mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend.
· May require the ability to stand for extended periods.
· May require the ability to walk long distances.
· May be Required to attend evening meetings and/or travel within and out of St. Lawrence County to attend meetings and trainings.
· Required to work evenings and weekends on occasion.
· May be required to use personal vehicle in the course of employment.
