POLITICO is searching for an Account Director to join our sales team in California. Our Account Directors are a part of POLITICO's Professional Subscriptions sales team and focus on driving revenue by managing the full sales-cycle from new prospect to close as well as servicing, renewing, and upselling existing clients. This role will be based in Sacramento as part of a California-based team of five on the business side and an editorial team of over twenty.POLITICO's subscription services, POLITICO Pro and E&E News, equip policy professionals with in-depth policy reporting and a portfolio of tools they need to get the job done. Almost 30,000 policy professionals rely on POLITICO's subscriptions services to help them stay informed quickly, act confidently, and communicate effectively.POLITICO's Professional Subscriptions team embodies POLITICO's culture, which is defined by grit, total integrity, and a prioritization of innovation. Our Account Directors help policy professionals succeed and are the front lines for driving revenue growth for the product. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to our mission by partnering with California-based clients, including lobbying firms, associations, government agencies, and more as well as playing a key role in shaping our California product offering by gathering market feedback. What You'll Do : Grow our subscription business by conducting strategic sales meetings and product demos with senior level executives.Conduct research, market analysis, and discovery about potential customers, using strategic thinking to best position POLITICO subscription products and services. Manage a pipeline of ~20-30 active deals at a time through the full sales cycle, to close.Service existing California clients and those you bring in to foster product adoption, drive value, and enhance renewal and account growth rates. This includes being the face of POLITICO subscriptions for the California state legislature and other existing key government customers. Partner with a Business Development Associate to identify prospective clients, help them hit their goals, and support your sales cycles. Alongside the Associate's manager, you will help train, coach, and support them in their career development. Stay up to date on relevant content for your prospects and existing clients and research / track policy trends.Be an ambassador of our professional subscriptions business in Sacramento and beyond.Uncover and relay feedback from the market and prospects to the Professional Subscriptions product team for continued product development.Proactively collaborate with California sellers from other business lines to support the holistic growth of the California business. Be part of an exciting new California-based team that supports the expansion of our editorial coverage in California. How You'll Do it : Create customized sales presentations and proposals to meet prospective client needs. Properly diagnose prospect pain points and recommend how our subscription services could be a valuable solution.Use your skills in discovery, assessment, and negotiation to close opportunities and achieve established quarterly revenue goals.Maintain pipeline and log sales activities through Salesforce and update your manager across various stages of the sales cycle.Meet regularly with your associate for meeting prep and pipeline updates for initial meetings and demos with clients.Conduct meetings with new clients to on-board and train them on how to navigate their dashboard, organize their content, and get the most out of their subscriptions.Manage and maintain a volume of 75-125 existing accounts by providing customer service and client success support during renewal conversations and upsell opportunities Demonstrate skills to accelerate business expansion through high retention rates and upsell success.Hold product walk-throughs with existing and new users to add value to their subscriptions during renewal conversations and various other points.Track account health for your California business and support your clients in deriving maximum value from our products and services. Experience with Salesforce or other CRMs to manage your sales pipeline.Proven success in hitting and / or achieving revenue targets and quotas.Commercial skills and business acumen. Enthusiasm about building upon initial successes in California to expand the market.This role is based out of California state. The anticipated OTE range for this role is $150,000-175,000.00 USD.
