What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barista position at Politics and Prose Bookstore?
The Den, Politics and Prose’s coffeehouse at its Connecticut Avenue location, is looking for a motivated individual to join our team of baristas. This is a full-time (35 hours per week) hourly, non-exempt position. Baristas are responsible for crafting beverages, serving food, cleaning, handling cash, and providing stellar customer service.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Implementing opening and closing procedures for the front of house
- Preparing coffee and other beverages
- Maintaining espresso machine
- Maintaining a working knowledge of the espresso bar
- Dishwashing
- Restocking inventory as needed
- Maintaining the upkeep of the front of house
Requirements:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to stand for a 7-hour shift
- Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.
- An eye for detail and can-do attitude
- An interest in teamwork and collaboration
- ABRA certification OR the ability to obtain one upon employment
Food and coffee service experience preferred but not required.
