Brief Description
ABOUT THE JOB
This position is a seasonal temporary position to fill a contract with the Oregon State Marine Board. Positions are available from mid-May through mid-September.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years of age at time of hire.
- Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Applicant must pass criminal background and reference checks. Must possess valid driver's license with good driving record.
- Must possess or earn an Oregon Boating Safety Card prior to start of employment, (Sheriff's Office can proctor the exam to hired employee.)
- Must possess or earn American Red Cross First Aid/CPR card prior to start of employment. (Sheriff's Office can certify hired employee.)
- Must be able to pass a swimming test consisting of a 100-meter swim, treading water for 5 minutes, float for 5minutes, and hold breath underwater for 30 seconds, consecutively.
- Must be able to work on unstable platforms such as docks and moving boats in a variety of environmental conditions such as adverse weather.
- Must have good verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals in a variety of situations.
