The Polo Club Manager in Training Program offers an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience in one of the nation’s finest private clubs. Designed for hospitality students and aspiring professionals, this program provides immersive training in a high-end club operation, allowing interns to develop exceptional service skills, leadership qualities, and real-world expertise in a five star club environment.
Summary:
Assists the Golf Professionals and the Directors of Golf Operations in developing, instituting, and managing member oriented programs and services. These include but are not limited to: golf tournaments, leagues, services and a professional and elegant looking pro shop. Assists members in the shop with any questions they may have.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the management of the total golf operation in a professional and efficient manner
- Working with the Director of Golf to ensure all operational goals are met
- Provide excellent customer service, professional advice, and assistance to all members and guests
- Assist with the management of all outside service personnel to ensure the flawless and professional delivery of service to our members
- Ensure accurate billing at the end of your shift
- Assist with the management of the total operation of the practice facility
- Provide golf instruction and clinics that are consistent with best practice instruction methods, policies, and procedures
- Assist in the purchasing, receipt, display, inventory, control, promotion, and sales of merchandise
- Be informed on, and promote all club activities and services
- Assist with the management of the handicapped program
- Assist in planning for the golf operations
- Assist in the coordination of and managing tournaments and outings
- Enforce all rules and regulations governing golf course usage
- Control and manage play; ensure guest check-in and fee collection in coordination with the starter
- Assist with the oversight of the reservation system, starting, and monitoring of play
- Assist in the publication of informational and promotional materials
- Work with the agronomy department daily to ensure a high level of member experience and awareness
- Contribute to our custom fitting and club repair
- Learn all members' and guest names, and use them regularly
- Assist with the oversight, rental, and maintenance of the golf car fleet
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have good customer service skills.
- Knowledge of golf merchandise is helpful.
- Requires responsibility and accountability.
- Requires good time/task management, and a positive and upbeat attitude.
- Requires proficiency with club repair tools such as a vice, grip knife and shaft cutter.
- Ability to verbally communicate well in English and in writing.
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
- Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers and members.
- Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year certificate from college or technical school or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals when appropriate. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions, common inquiries and complaints from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software and the ability to learn to operate the Irrigation System software.
