As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Director of Supply Chain with a hands-on, builder mentality to help transform our operations and improve supply chain efficiency.
Position Overview:
The Director of Supply Chain will be responsible for optimizing the supply chain processes at Polymedco, particularly in managing external suppliers, improving turnaround times, and implementing an MRP/APS system to transition from manual planning based on historical trends to a more efficient, forecast-driven system leveraging Salesforce CRM. This role requires a hands-on builder who can work across functions to improve the overall effectiveness of Operations, driving collaboration between Commercial and Supply Chain teams to meet customer commitments.
Polymedco leverages international suppliers and distributes primarily in North American markets, with minor international customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning- lead the planning and execution of supply chain, purchasing, and procurement activities. Collaborate with other departments to align supply chain strategies with overall business goals.
- Continuous Process Improvement: Design and execute operational strategies that align with the company’s growth objectives. Continuously evaluate and improve processes, leveraging technology and best practices to increase efficiency and scalability.
- MRP/APS System Implementation: Lead the implementation of an advanced planning system to move from manual, Excel-based planning to automated forecasts generated from Salesforce CRM.
- Supplier Management: Manage monthly purchasing with international suppliers, ensuring adherence to quantity minimums and timing while identifying opportunities for improvement and reductions in cost. Evaluate supplier performance and implement supplier scorecards and continuous improvement initiatives. Establish a Sourcing Strategy to optimize the supply network for best cost, quality and service. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and lead the supplier selection and onboarding process. Anticipate and manage SC risks timely and effectively, working closely with the leadership team on permanent resolutions.
- Oversee Internal and External CRC Kit Builders: Establish metrics to improve performance, reduce lead times, and enhance speed to customer service.
- Freight Management: Optimize inbound and outbound freight operations with international and domestic providers, exploring opportunities for cost savings. Negotiate and manage contracts with carriers and logistics providers to optimize cost, quality and service.
- Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP): Manage Polymedco's S&OP process, overseeing an 18-month horizon. Build and implement an S&OE (Sales & Operations Execution) process to manage a 3-month production and sourcing cycle, ensuring collaboration with the Commercial team to meet customer commitments.
- Team Leadership: Establish clear roles and responsibilities and directly manage a team of three members responsible for planning and purchasing, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements related to operations and supply chain. Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks and disruptions
Key Requirements:
- 10 years of progressive experience providing strategic and operational leadership in a customer driven planning and logistics environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience managing people and providing both tactical and strategic leadership, and the ability to communicate at all levels.
- Strong background in implementing MRP/APS systems and integrating them with Salesforce CRM for forecasting.
- Experience maturing an S&OP process with an 18-month horizon, and implementing an S&OE process to manage short-term production and sourcing.
- Exceptional Excel skills and a strong analytical mindset. Ability to present and communicate cross functionally to align teams on key decisions and improvement opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement new systems to support supply chain processes.
- Experience managing international suppliers and navigating minimum order quantities and lead times.
- A hands-on builder mentality with a focus on transforming manual processes into automated, data-driven systems.
- Ability to manage freight operations, both international and domestic, with a focus on cost optimization.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with a track record of developing and managing high-performing teams.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working with Acumatica ERP and Salesforce CRM.
- Previous experience in the diagnostics or medical devices industry.
- Experience working in a fast-growing company and driving transformation in supply chain operations.
