What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Associate position at Ponderay Garden Center?
Ponderay Garden Center (PGC) is looking for a dependable and energetic sales associate for our established seasonal business within the community. The ideal candidate must be thoroughly familiar with and able to perform all aspects of plant materials, nursery stock, garden supplies, hardscape materials and products sold by the business. As a sales associate, you will be integral to the daily operations of the business while interfacing with department managers and PGC staff and customers. Compensation will be evaluated and based upon experience.
Duties
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Customer Service and Sales:
- Represent the company in a courteous and professional manner.
- Facilitate the resolution of customer questions or concerns to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Actively engage with customers, staff and facility operations daily.
- Assist customers with loading of products purchased.
Facility Operations:
- Discuss daily department needs with department managers.
- Maintain and ensure efficient and safe work practices daily.
- Understand facility organization and products sold
- Ensure all products and the facility is kept clean and organized.
Minimum Requirements:
- Positive attitude and enjoys working in a team environment
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic understanding of the landscape and garden retail industry.
- Ability to accurately serve as a cashier, including processing credit cards, making change, and other basic math skills.
- Basic knowledge of all products sold.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills.
- Excellent customer relationship skills.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work in a team environment and take direction from general management.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, work instructions, software manuals.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Lift 50-100 lbs
- Be on feet and outside majority of shift
- Outdoor work in variety of North Idaho weather conditions.
Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
