ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:
- This position reports to the Construction Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Equipment Operator is a key role in the execution of pipeline maintenance, cathodic protection projects, and right-of-way maintenance. This position involves operating and maintaining heavy machinery and specialized equipment used in various field activities. The Equipment Operator ensures that machinery is used safely and efficiently to meet project requirements while maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, trenchers, and other machinery required for pipeline excavation, cathodic protection installations, and right-of-way maintenance
- Perform pre- and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is in safe and functional condition
- Transport, load, and unload equipment to and from project sites as needed
- Assist with site preparation, excavation, and backfilling operations, ensuring precision and adherence to project specifications
- Support cathodic protection installations by operating machinery for tasks such as trenching, test station placement, and anode installation
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, such as maintaining proper clearances and avoiding underground utility damage during excavation
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or ability to obtain one as required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction, pipeline, or maintenance projects
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, safe digging practices, and utility location procedures (e.g., 811 "Call Before You Dig" compliance)
- Proficient in operating a variety of heavy machinery with skill and precision
- Flexibility to travel to job sites and work extended hours as required by project schedules
- Must be able to travel to various job sites
- Required to work weekends and holidays
- Required to work hours other than 8 to 5
- Required to wear personal protective equipment provided by the employer and comply with all safety requirements
