The Director of Student Activities oversees a variety of social and extracurricular programs, fostering a vibrant and faith filled school community. This individual manages the planning, scheduling, and execution of events, coordinates the House System, supports club activities, and oversees key annual traditions. The Director also acts as a central point of communication for daily announcements and maintains the school’s activity calendar.
Performance Responsibilities:
Event Planning and Coordination:
- Plan, organize, and execute a variety of annual events such as Homecoming, Coming Home, pep rallies, dances, Feast Days, JPII Week and Catholic Schools Week.
- Lead high school house council and provide assistance to middle school leadership for their dances, pep rallies, and activities
- Coordinate logistics for events, including themes, decorations, schedules, and materials.
- Collaborate with internal and external vendors to arrange services, such as catering, rentals, and photography.
- Facilitate meetings with House Council, club sponsors, and faculty to ensure event alignment with school goals and schedules.
- Manage dress-down day permissions, tickets, and guidelines for themed weeks.
House System Management:
- Update and maintain the House Master List, including advisors, students, and new members.
- Oversee House rotations, games, and competitions to encourage student participation and teamwork.
- Support the House Council through leadership retreats, training, and regular planning sessions.
- Track and report points or achievements for the House System throughout the school year.
Clubs and Activities:
- Work with teachers to establish and coordinate high school and middle school club offerings.
- Organize club fairs and support club sponsors with scheduling and field trip protocols.
- Support club sponsors in managing budgets, resources and facilities.
Daily Operations:
- Manage daily announcements, including quotes, updates, and event reminders.
- Coordinate with faculty to ensure timely communication of announcements each morning.
- Vet content, such as jokes or messages, to align with the school’s values and standards.
Annual and Seasonal Responsibilities:
- Oversee orientation activities for new students, including distribution of lanyards, t-shirts, and ID materials
- Organize and support key seasonal programs like Relay for Life, coat drives, and food drives.
- Coordinate senior-specific traditions, such as Senior Blessing, Project Graduation, and sweatshirt orders.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain and update the school’s activity calendar, ensuring alignment with academic and athletic schedules.
- Communicate event details and expectations to students, parents, faculty, and staff through emails, presentations, and promotional materials.
- Partner with dining services and external groups to support refreshments and logistical needs for events.
- Prepare and manage budgets for student activities in collaboration with the administration.
Leadership Development:
- Facilitate House Council and school presidential elections, including application processes, campaign materials, and speeches.
- Encourage and mentor student leaders to take active roles in planning and executing activities.
Other Duties as Assigned:
- Respond to emerging student activity needs and adjust plans to accommodate new opportunities throughout the year.
