Position Overview
Pope Soil & Water Conservation is seeking a highly skilled Watershed Planner to join our team. As a Watershed Planner, you will play a key role in coordinating comprehensive local water/watershed management planning and implementation efforts for the Chippewa River watershed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate with local governments, landowners, and conservation organizations to develop and implement watershed management plans.
* Conduct fieldwork, including site visits and data collection, to inform watershed management decisions.
* Analyze complex data sets, including GIS and remote sensing data, to identify areas of concern and opportunities for improvement.
* Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community groups, farmers, and local government officials.
* Collaborate with other staff members to develop educational programs and materials on watershed management and conservation practices.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in natural resources, soils, geology, agriculture, geography, planning, or related field.
* Strong knowledge of geology, geography, planning, wildlife ecology, wetland, and grassland management principles.
* Experience with design and installation of conservation practices or similar work.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
* Valid Minnesota driver's license.
